three fer tuesday

this is the latest reader submission we've gotten from a friend who likes to take pictures of bikes while using other modes of transport (airports, trains, you get the idea).

the title of the email was simply, "blinkies."

this is found on caltrain, the commuter train that is similar to metro north or long island rail road over on that other coast. we are allowed to take bikes on caltrain and bungee them up to the railings as you see here. multi-modal transportation is totally the way to go.

thanks for submitting pictures as always!

do you have pictures you want to send into the site? please email us or join our flickr group!

Sooooo, you're saying it's essentially like all other commuter trains? ;) Most larger cities have them.

  2. @adam: other larger cities in america like say, houston or los angeles, don't. or have rail lines that are so unreliable they are not a viable option for commuting.

i would also venture to say that some commuters in those cities have no idea what multi modal transporation options mean. just spreading the love for those not so much in the know as you seem to be. thanks and enjoy your snarky day.

  3. LA does, and it's an incy bit busier than Caltrain.

  4. I live in El Paso, TX. Us bicyclists are just over the moon that as of three years ago, each of our fixed route city buses finally have bike racks on front. ;-)

My partner says the bike depicted is a throw-back to the Mods of the 1960s in the UK--a la The Who's Quadrophenia.

    Thanks for sharing, calitexican!
